Browsing through the text...
So I was flipping through the text this morning to get to the James Baldwin pages, as I have started early on pod 8. I came to some poems by Denise Levertov, and I must say I found them intriguing. The first was titled "To the Snake." If you want to check them out, you can on page 1377 and so on. Now I didn't really understand this particular poem but I loved the usage of lines and indentation. It forced you to read the poem differently than you would if it were in block form. She writes very similarly in "In Mind." I really liked this particular poem, and this one I could establish some sort of meaning. Though its not very clear-cut, just like most poetry I come across, I like it and the way it forces you to think. I suppose I find poetry confusing, but refreshing. Its sort of like a crossword puzzle, but without wrong answers. Mentally stimulating, a beginning without an end. I think with a lot of poetry, you could just sit around a debate the meaning of it forever, unless of course you're talking with the author. I've tried my hand at poety, I even wrote a prose (sp?) poem for my creative writing class last semester and will be featured in a magazine available at the campus, which reminds me I need to get ahold of Amy and see when the magazine will be available. I don't really feel like i have a knack for poetry, I suppose I complicate it too much, but I find it interesting and have a great appreciation for it. I suppose thats all I can really ask for.
